Grandparents help get a GRASP on parenting in their golden years

Marie Ruf is the facilitator and licensed clinical social worker who manages the support group of people caring for a relative's child. Participating in a group helps break through the sense of isolation that caregivers experience. Guest speakers present information on topics 4 times a year. There is an annual conference. Vicki Reed is a caregiver support coordinator with LifeSpan Resources who oversees GRASP. Census data states over 48,000 Indiana children are living with grandparents or relatives other than their biological parents.. Photograph accompanies the article.
