Firefighters, Matt Juliot and Tony Habermel traveled 5,400 in three weeks across the country to the Pacific coast.. Riding their motorcycles they experienced 12 states in all kinds of weather.. The men spent about $1,600 each. They had their motorcycles serviced only once; fortunately they did not have any trouble or breakdowns.. Photographs accompany the article.
