Library to celebrate Black History

Jackie Love, Director of Equity and Diversity at IUS, will talk about how Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. inspired her life and the importance of black history.. Montford Point: The Legacy of Black Marines will be discussed by Charles Stallard. As a Vietnam veteran he will discuss his training at the facility. Mr. Stallard will also share the history of Montford Point as segregated base where black Marines were trained.. Poet Evangelene Jordan will read her poetry and discuss the history of African-American poetry.. Oneita Phillips and Lynn Rueff will present a program on researching African-American ancestors.. Kathryn Hickerson, a co-chair of the Friends of Division Street School, will discuss the history and restoration of the 120-year-old school.
