Hearing will determine fate of NAPD officer

Helton is charged with violating the NAPD's Standard Operating Procedure by giving false testimony in Floyd County Court, and violating the department's SOP by using a taser on a suspect when officials said he should not have.. The New Albany Police Merit Commission held an administrative hearing for more than five hours yesterday. The Commission will have 10 days to make a decision.
