Incumbent takes lead of school board

During Thursday night's New Albany-Floyd County School Corp. board meeting, the first meeting for newly elected members meeting, the first meeting for newly elected members Jan Habermel Anderson, D.J. Hines and Mark Boone, the board voted on its annual reorganization -- a topic that sparked debate amongst members. President Roger Whaley, who was absent from the meeting, was picked in a 4 to 2 vote to serve a subsequent term as the board's leader. The board approved hiring three assistant principals: Wendy Ivey at Fairmont, Brian Kehrer at Green Valley and Amy Niemeier at Slate Run elementary schools
