Indiana reaping millions from Medicaid fraud settlements
At a time when state budget revenues are down, there's one small source of income that's up: Indiana and other states are reaping millions of dollars from drug makers accused by whistle-blowers of Medicaid fraud. During the last three weeks, three major pharmaceutical companies have agreed to pay more than $616 million to settle milti-state lawsuits accusing them of bilking state and federal Medicaid programs through off-labeling of drugs and other offenses. Indiana is expected to recoup more than $5 million from the three settlements and more may be on the way
