A history of the inception of the musical, "Lewis and Clark: An American Journey" is given. David Longest wrote the play and Jim Stanton composed the music. Mr. Longest is the only drama teacher in the country to have won the Lilly Endowment teacher Creativity Fellowship twice -- in 1987 and 2002.. Photographs accompany the article.
