Police ask for weapons for different situations

Police Chief Merle Harl has asked the Board of Works and Public Safety to allow the metro SWAT team to have rifles. Chief Harl has also asked for tasers for each officer. Tasers would be used when the person was resisting an officer and not attempting to use a deadly weapon. The City Council approved the use of money from Caesar's Foundation to purchase six new patrol cars.
