Street cents -- City does not have money to fix all road problems

Residents who live on Schell Lane seem to have won a battle when it comes to potentially more traffic that could have headed their way. The residents were against a plan for a parking lot at the rear of Community Park near their street. The residents said motorists already speed along the road that they say is too narrow. The Board of Works and Public Safety this week voted in favor of the residents' requests that a gate to the park remain closed. While they may have won that battle, some residents who spoke at the meeting said the real problem with Schell Lane is that it is too narrow; they say it needs to be widened and sidewalks added. The question becomes whether or not those residents will see that wish come true anytime soon. By the looks of the city's financial status, Schell Lane will likely remain as it is for some time.
