Public can give input on proposed water rate increase

The public can speak out Monday about a proposed 38 percent rate increase Indiana American Water Co. is asking the state's regulatory panel to approve. Indiana American's request would push monthly bills for customers in Southern Indiana -- including Clarksville, Jeffersonville and New Albany -- to $40.84 from the current $29.58, based on usage of about 5,200 gallons per month. Indiana American states it is seeking $46.8 million in new annual operating revenues because of growth in operating and maintenance expenses, and due to numerous capital improvements
