Third-graders to get free dictionaries

About 2,500 third-graders in 40 schools in Clark and Floyd counties received free dictionaries this month through a program sponsored by the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana. CFSI staff and board members have been making the rounds in both public and private schools, personally delivering the dictionaries. The Foundation also partnered with the Harrison County Community Foundation to give dictionaries to more than 500 third-graders in Harrison County. The Dictionary Project is part of a national effort to help third-grade teachers make their students better writers, active readers and creative thinkers
