Stimulus funds help TARC initiative

TARC will receive just more than $480,000 to purchase leases for nine new paratransit vehicles with routes that will extend into Clark and Floyd counties. A project being funded by the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act was removed from a Kentuckiana Regional Planning and Development Agency plan, causing $627,344 to be redistributed, with some of that funding indirectly affecting Southern Indiana. The dial-a-ride is for individuals who cannot use the regular TARC routes for reasons of disability; they call 24 hours ahead of time to be picked up by the public-transit provider
