Temperance Meeting
The temperance mass meeting at the Opera House, Saturday night, was, perhaps, the largest that has been held; and unusual interest was manifested by those taking part in the temperance movement. A number of the best speakers of the city, consisting of clergymen, lawyers and doctors were present and took an active part. Mr. W. S. Culbertson arose and explained that the object of the meeting was to determine whether or not the men would aid the women in the great work of subduing intemperance.... At the close of the meeting a resolution was unaminously passed to give the women engaged in the temperance movement, moral and financial support to all necessary extent.
