Almost an Accident

Yesterday afternoon Street Commissioner Ailer made a narrow escape from being seriously hurt, or perhaps killed. As he came out the alley above Upper Sixteenth street, and turned down Main, in his buggy, the dirt train going up came up the cut entering Main street, causing his horse to jump to one side and start to run off, the left fore wheel was twisted off, and in this condition the buggy was dragged some distance before the horse could be stopped. Ailer says the engineer was not ringing his bell at the time.
