The New Court House

The work on this splendid structure is being pushed forward with all possible energy by the Superintendent, W.P. Swift. The fine and broad iron stairs leading to the upper rooms have been put up and fastened, and are of beautiful design and easy ascent. ...The Court room is to be frescoed, Capt. Thomas Kunkle, who has the contract for the painting and frescoing, having engaged that superior artist Mr. Limberge to do the latter. ...The halls of the building are to be laid with the best quality of pure Italian marble, in blocks twelve inches square. Muldoon & Co. of Louisville have the contract for this work....The architects of the building, Messrs. Stancliffe & Vodges, deserves the highest praise for the faithful manner in which they have had every minutiae of the plan carried out in the erection of the building, and the contractor for the brick work, Mr. Richard Houpt, for the carpenter work, Mr. Charles Sackett, and the contractors for the stone work, plastering, roofing, &c., have done their work in the most substantial manner...
