New Albany Theological Seminary

The Synod of Cincinnati at its meeting last week in Bellefontaine, resolved to continue the New Albany Seminary, and appointed their quota of Directors to unite with the Directors from the other Synods in carrying on the institution. The establishment of the Seminary at Danville drew forth in the discussion a universal expression of disfavour, except from one individual. A minority of sixteen ministers and nine elders was in favor of a temporary suspension of the New Albany Seminary, in order to memorialize the next General Assembly to review the action of the last Assembly, which they believe acted upon a misunderstanding of the views and wants of the Western churches, and in order to present the offer of the New Albany Seminary again to the Assembly, with the restriction that it must remain at New Albany. The meeting of the Synod was full, more than ninety members being in attendance, and all the proceedings were characterized by good feeling and kindness.
