Man charged with illeagal possession of gun near school

A 22-year-old Sellersburg man was arrested at about 11:20 Thursday morning after New Albany police were called to the 1300 block of Oak Street to investigate domestic trouble. When police arrived they encountered Jeremy Murphy, of the 7200 block of Hoover Drive, who had a .22-caliber handgun without a permit to carry, according to a New Albany Police Department press release. Further investigation revealed Murphy had an outstanding arrest warrant issued in Floyd County charging him with failure to appear in connection with a violation of probation on a class D felony theft charge
