Federal funds available to counties
Representatives from several Southern Indiana organizations -- including the Homebuilders Association, The Salvation Army, New Hope Services and Indiana Landmarks -- attended a meeting at the Cardinal Ritter House on Monday to learn about funding that will improve local neighborhoods. Last fall, the S. Ellen Jones Neighborhood received a $6.75 million neighborhood stabilization grant that is being used for the area, but there is now $23 million in funding available to benefit the rest of Floyd, Harrison, Clark and Washington counties. "The reason for being here [Monday night], is there is a one-time allocation that Indiana has received of federal Community Development Block Grant funding related to some of the disasters, but not limited to helping homes impacted by disasters," said state Rep.
