Historic group remains intact for now
A tumultous New Albany City Council meeting Thursday saw the body defeat on initial readings an ordinane calling for the abolishment of the city's Historic Preservation Commission. The City-County Building's third-floor Assembly Room held a crowd of residents, historians and business owners that pleaded for the council to vote down the ordinance. The measure was sponsored by Councilman Steve Price, who accused the HPC of intimidating certain property owners that petitioned the board for approval of various building upgrades
