Union recognition hangs up dispatch merger

Presently county dispatchers do not belong to a union. City officials believe a union is essential to protect the benefits the dispatchers have worked for. City dispatchers are represented by the Communcations Workers of America. City and county officials began discussing the merger last year. A meeting date has been set to discuss the issue again.
