Plans to build 350-lot subdivision nixed

Plans to build the largest subdivision ever approved in Floyd County have been canceled. Bittersweet, the 350-lot, 176-acre subdivision on Smith Creek Road, near Lanesville, has been controversial since its inception more than a year ago. Now, attorney Greg Fifer, who represented the developers of the land, said area resident Mike Gohmann has bought the proposed site and isn't planning to develop it.
