Sherman Minton Bridge struck by barge

A problem with steering on a towboat...resulted in a tow of barges carrying gasoline and other petroleum products striking a pier of the Sherman Minton Bridge last night around 11 p.m and closure of the bridge for approx. six hours. ...the bridge has now been declared structurally sound and been reopened to traffic but the maritime investigation is continuing.
