State enjoys role as NAHS' resource officer

Darren State is serving as New Albany High School's resource officer. He is one of 3 officers assigned to two middle schools and one senior high. ""Cops in Schools"" is a 3-year grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. The $375,000 grant plus matching money from the NAFC School Corporation funds the officers. These police also spend time as DARE officers by spreading the anti-drug message to 5th and 6th graders. Floyd County officials will also be placing officers at Floyd Central, Highlands Middle School and Prosser School of Technology.. Photograph of Officer Darren State accompanies the article.
