Suspect killed, two officers wounded at Pillsbury in 1965

On Nov. 28, 1965 William Nanny reportedly opened fire on police as they pulled into Pillsbury's parking lot to investigate a report of a disturbance there. Nanny was waiting for his wife, Martha, and when she came out he tried to get in an argument with her; Nanny pulled a gun from his coat, shouting that he was going to shoot his wife. When the officers arrived, Nanny started firing at them and the officers returned fire; Nanny died after being shot four times by police. Patrolman William Johnson reportedly had one bullet lodged near his heart and a spinal wound; officer Charles Smith was hit by a bullet in his left leg
