Plan Commission OKs downtown masterplan

The plan commission joined the New Albany Redevelopment Commission in supporting the blueprint for future land use and development between East Sixth Street and the Sherman Minton Bridge. Chief Planner Scott Wood said a component of the phase two chart is environmental responsibility. The blueprint calls for a parking garage and plaza funded by the city that would include build-out option for developers to partner with the city. Larry Timperman added a rail system could be explored in the future that would connect several points in Southern Indiana, including downtown New Albany, with Louisville and possibly the Horseshoe Casino in Harrison County
