In the midst of fighting for a $20 million expansion project for Ivy Tech Community College, Chancellor Rita Hudson Shourds was fighting a personal battle -- breast cancer. Shourds started getting tested at age 24. "Losing my breasts wasn't a traumatic decision, because it was all about me getting to live my life to my life expectancy and seeing my family; chemotherapy was by far the hardest thing I've ever done".
