"I always knew it wasn't going to be 'if', it was going to be 'when' they were going to find cancer and I'm not a negative person"; "I just knew someday I was going to be diagnosed with breast cancer". "It's wow; it kind of knocks you off your feet -- it was surreal, kind of like watching a movie" she said of finding out she had stage 1 breast cancer. She's on medication similar to chemotherapy for five years to help prevent a recurrence of the cancer; she's also in the process of having reconstructive surgery.
