Officer injured, three police cars hit

Floyd County Prosecutor Keigh Henderson said at a press conference Monday that Floyd County Sheriff's Deputy Sgt. Gene Perrot was justified when he fired five shots at Wells as the suspect drove toward the officer. Wells, the driver of the vehicle, refused to stop and fled from the trooper onto Interstate 65 South into Kentucky. The pursuit ended at the 8800 block of Scottsville Road when Wells' vehicle allegedly hit a police vehicle. Perrot exited the vehicle, and Wells' vehicle allegedly began moving again in the direction of the officer; that is when Perrot fired five shots at the vehicle. Photographs accompany the article
