New Albany fire marshal receives top state award. Major Jerry Banet, a 30-year veteran, was named Fire Inspector of the Year in July by The Fire Inspectors Association of Indiana. The association was started in 1988 to help influence code changes and help with certification and training; he said that right now they are working on residential sprinkler systems.
