Pertaining to People

Matthew M. Wilson is a quiet, unobtrusive old negro living on Pearl street near the bridge. He was born a slave in Hart county, Kentucky, January 2, 1820, and brought up on a farm and freed during the war by Lincoln's proclamation. He was lawfully married in 1866, but had lived with her before. She is still living and they have three children. He served on the Union side in the war of the rebellion.
