Hartz Epstein doesn't appear to be over 60 years of age, but he is nevertheless in the 74th year. He was born at Frankfurt on the Rhine, province of Hessen Nassau, Germany, in September, 1821. He came to America in 1850, was married to Miss Bettie Bierman, at Aurora, Ind., and came to New Albany in 1859. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Epstein, six of whom are still living as follows: Simon, Samuel, Misses Marlow, Carrie and Nettie Epstein and Mrs. Henry Newberger. They also have four grandchildren. Mr. Epstein is a member of the Sixth street Jewish Temple, of Louisville...He has been in the clothing business for about forty years.
