Capt. John W. Cannon arrived from New Orleans on Saturday for the purpose of superintending the construction of his new boat. He has concluded to change the size of his cylinders from 34 to 40 inches, which will render her the fastest boat on the Western waters.. NADL: Monday, June 4, 1866. pg. 3 col. 7: One of the monster forty-inch cylinders for Capt. John W. Cannon's steamer, building here by Hill, Roberts, & Co., was successfully cast at the American Foundery of Stuckey, Twomey, & Co., on Saturday afternoon. This is the largest cylinder ever cast for a steamboat below the falls of the Ohio. The other one will be cast on Saturday, 16th inst.
