Fancy Bell Rope

The firemen at the Sanderson reel house are naturally very proud of their fancy bell rope, which is plated [plaited?] and ornamented and is the handwork of Engineer James Beeler, of the steamer City of Owensboro. Jimmie Beeler is one of the most popular engineers on the mail boats between here and Evansville and has a large number of admirers among the people of the city.
