Gunter sentenced in NA murder

A 25-year-old Louisville man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for class A felony voluntary manslaughter during an emotional hearing. Family members of Jeremy Gibson killed during an apparent drug deal in 2006, had asked Floyd County Superior Court No. 1 Judge Susan Orth to reject the plea agreement which was filed last month. Gunter could have claimed self defense; Gibson brought the gun to a purported drug deal, and the two men got into an altercation -- Gunter somehow gained possession of the gun and shot Gibson.
