March 2 date set for Benedetti jury trial

City Councilwoman Diane McCartin-Benedetti will be judged by a jury of her peers beginning March 2 unless a deal is reached over the operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Benedetti did attend the proceedings with her lawyer, Bart Betteau; Benedetti was arrested Nov. 7 and charged with OWI after being pulled over at Spring and Woodrow avenues. Most of March 2 will be used for jury selection. The defense has filed a motion to suppress alleged statements made by Benedetti during and after her arrest.
