Man arrested for battery of girlfriend

Raymond Shirley has been arrested in connection with the battery of a woman that told police she is the man's girlfriend. Officers were sent to the 600 block of East Elm Street to investigate a fight between a man and woman. The woman told officers that Raymond Shirley allegedly struck her in the head and face and choked her while riding in the woman's SUV, which was stopped for a traffic light at Pearl and East Elm streets
