Parks budget cuts go deep
Property tax cuts have claimed another victim, as the New Albany-Floyd County Parks Department has less than a quarter of the year to makeup about 33 percent of its budget. The Indiana Department of Local Government Finance certified the 2009 parks budget at the end of September, leaving the department about $383,000 short of its anticipated revenue. Before the cut, the department was operating on about a $1.26 million budget; after the certification, that amount was shashed to $878,024. Part-time employees are being laid off; full-time employees, sports leagues not at jeopardy
