Obituaries

All who were so fortunate as to be acquainted with Mrs. Mary Julia McCord, widow of the late Robert G. McCord, will be saddened by the announcement of her death, which occurred on Sunday evening, 16th inst., at the family residence on East Main and Twelfth streets, after an illness of two months. She was first stricken down by nervous prostration, and this resulted in a complication of diseases which refused to yield to the best medical treatment.. Mary Julia McCord was the daughter of Peter and Mary Stoy, and the sister of Mr. Peter R. Stoy. She was a native of New Albany, where she was reared and educated. She grew out of girlhood into an accomplished and beautiful woman, and throughout her life was noted for tenderness of affection for parents, husband, children, brothers and sisters. She was also noted for her kindness to the poor, and for her activity in all charitable enterprises that were intended to help the humble and suffering.. She was reared in the Methodist church, but in her young womanhood attached herself to the First Presbyterian church. She lived a faithful, diligent Christian life, active in all good works for the church. She died in the faith that Christ was her Redeemer and Savior, her life passing away in peace.. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Mamie Rogers of St. Paul, Minnesota and two sons, Charles W. and Robert G. McCord, of this city, all of whom mourn her as a loving, indulgent, Christian mother..
