Elijah Emery, the saddler on State street, was born in North Carolina Jan. 8, 1822. He came here when a boy and has been a citizen of the county ever since. He lived at Greenville awhile, but for many years has been in the harness business on State street. Mr. Emery married when a young man and his wife died many years ago and he has remained a widower since. Mr. Emory has a comfortable home on Upper Fourth street and is in good circumstances. He has two grown daughters, both married.
